It is of utmost importance that we guard against anyone wanting to take away our right to choose for ourselves. A battle was fought in the pre-existence over this very thing and I see a "portent of stormy weather ahead for us" (as Pres. Hinckley predicted) and if we are to survive these times that we are living in then we must make correct choices that will bring us eventually back into the presence of our God. Choices ~~ that is what we fought for as we exercised our right of agency in the pre-existence and that is why we are here and have a body and Satan does not!

Carla JohnsonWilliam L. I know how trying it must be for someone ...Bill,
I know how trying it must be for someone such as you, dead serious about serious things, to have to separate out the tongue in cheek chaff from sparse wheat when you take your valuable time to read my responses to your thoughts. I seem to slip back and forth indiscriminately from seriousness to satire like a Jekyll and Hyde, but I would hope without the malice. But my point really is that I do it with about as much lack of containment. It's to your credit that you are able to endure. But maybe not an indication of your wisdom??? I have often thought when getting ready to send a response to your thoughts of just letting you off the hook entirely. But then, I look forward to your missives.

And hope to remain Open,

Paul MaddoxWilliam L. What is prayer without faith? Words?
Proverbs 15: God hears the righteous. but since,
Phil 3:19: and Mathew 19:17: there is none good but one!!! Yet we hope to be heard!
Moses 7:32: It was by God's design that we were created as we are, with our limitations. The purpose of man after all is to suffer.
Heleman 10:5: We ask only that God's will be done. To ask otherwise is to contradict the principle of faith!
Alma 32:21: We have no idea what faith really is, but we have hope, and we attribute that as faith. In the end, greater than these is ....
D&C 347:4: A mantra to live by: Choose for yourself. But pray, pray pray. Pray without ceasing ... that your choices will (forget your righteousness, Proverbs) but without useless appeal to merit, by grace alone be guided by his all-knowing, all-powerful invisible hand.
Blessings will follow, but they may or may not be apparent to the one who receives God's grace through prayer. Sometimes that takes faith, true, whatever it is. :)

Paul MaddoxWilliam L. I have been really frustrated this week with my daughter's boyfriend who set a baptismal date and is now having doubts, i.e. afraid of his mother's reaction, etc. I was so upset to hear that he didn't watch conference yesterday, and missed Dallin Oaks talk. Thank you so much for reminding me that I need to honor agency.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Keeping you in my prayers praying for good health for you.

Kindest regards,

Tracy DrivasWilliam L.
